Mizuno Golf Equipment

BGA_CTA_Retailers_250x250_Mizuno

MIZUNO – In 1933, Mizuno engaged in the manufacture of golf equipment, their international reputation for producing the finest quality sports equipment was firmly established in the 1970s’ when it started to export its golf clubs to Europe.

At that time irons were usually forged from a single mould and would emerge rough-and-ready and in need of plenty of hand grinding – an inconsistent process.

Mizuno developed a forging process, which used two moulds, more precise only requiring a minimum of hand grinding. Consistency was much greater providing a more predictable performance on the course.

In the 1990’s the emergence of CAD design lead most manufacturers to switch to a casting process to manufacture its irons. Mizuno bucked the trend by investing further in its patented Grain Flow Forging process – aware that casting was inferior when it came to producing precise club heads.

Mizuno’s combination of industry leading R&D, cutting-edge technology and stunning craftsmanship, they believe they produce some of the best irons in the world. Each and every club is produced with the user in focus.

Whilst other manufacturers relied on the payment of players to use their equipment, Mizuno invested in precise manufacturing techniques to ensure that tour players would want to play its irons by choice. Mizuno irons were regularly the most played brand on both the US PGA and European Tours.

North American custom golf equipment is assembled at Mizuno’s facility, in Braselton, Georgia. This ensures the quickest possible service within the States and beyond, whilst maintaining strict quality control.

“With the JPX925 line, we are pushing the boundaries of golf club engineering.”

MIZUNO PRO IRONS

MIZUNO PRO 221, MIZUNO RP FLI-HI, MIZUNO PRO 221, MIZUNO PRO 223 AND MIZUNO PRO 225)

Mizuno Pro has always been Mizuno’s most forward-thinking series – cutting edge engineering concealed within precise playing profiles preferred by the game’s elite players…

THE MIZUNO PRO 221, 223, 225 AND FLIHI CONTINUE THAT PURSUIT  ELITE PLAYERS IRONS DESTINED TO MAKE THEIR OWN MARK IN HISTORY. STRIDING ON FROM THE RECENT FEEL ORIENTATED INTRODUCTIONS OF GRAIN FLOW FORGING HD AND SOFT COPPER UNDERLAY  WITH A BIT OF ROCKET FUEL ADDED.

“THE CONCEPT OF MIZUNO PRO CAN BE MISUNDERSTOOD – WE’RE NOT TRYING TO DESIGN INSTANT CLASSICS OR WORKS OF ART. MIZUNO JUST HIDES TECHNOLOGY INCREDIBLY WELL.”

“THIS COULD BE PERCEIVED AS THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL OF MIZUNO PRO. BUT THE TRUE ESSENCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO MAKE HISTORY – NOT BE STUCK IN IT.” – CHRIS VOSHALL, PRODUCT MANAGER

Barla_Golf_Academy_Equipment_700x350_Mizuno-Pro-Series
BY JULY 2021 – JUST 24 PLAYERS HAVE REACHED #1 IN THE OFFICIAL WORLD GOLF RANKINGS. THROUGH THEIR CAREERS, 13 OF THOSE 24 HAVE PLAYED MIZUNO IRONS.

“FROM AN ENGINEERING PERSPECTIVE – THE MIZUNO PRO 223 IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST STEP FORWARD OF ALL THREE NEW IRONS.”

“THE 221 AND 225 ARE REFINED VERSIONS OF THEIR PREDECESSORS (MP-20 & MP-20 HMB) – BUT THE 223 IS A COMPLETELY NEW CONCEPT. AN INCREDIBLY COMPACT PLAYERS PROFILE – SMALLER IN EVERY WAY THAN THE IRON IT REPLACES. WITH CHROMOLY FORGED AND A HIDDEN MICRO-SLOT FROM 4-7 IRON.” – DAVID LLEWELLYN, DIRECTOR OF R&D

The Ultimate Muscleback –

Inspired by the iconic blades of Mizuno past – evolved to be more playable through incremental refinements in shape and weight placement. Bevelled for the appearance of a shorter face profile and narrower top line – without loss of mass in the upper blade. With dramatically more compact scoring irons than its predecessors. Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima, Japan, with a soft copper underlay for a uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.

“WE’RE OBVIOUSLY WORKING IN SMALL INCREMENTS ON A MIZUNO MUSCLEBACK – WE HAVE TO DIG QUITE DEEP TO GET ANY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. THE COPPER UNDERLAY AND GRAIN FLOW FORGING WAS SUCH A GREAT FOUNDATION ON THE MP-20. PLAYERS WITH A GOOD EYE WILL ENJOY THE SUBTLE SHAPE CHANGES THROUGH THE SET – ESPECIALLY THE 8, 9, PW” – DAVID LLEWELLYN, DIRECTOR OF R&D

Elite Players Cavity –

Everything tour players need to compete on extended, more demanding layouts – but never thought to ask for. The Mizuno Pro 223 conceals a ball speed-enhancing construction within the frame of a compact players cavity. A completely new technology platform from 4-7 iron combining Mizuno’s tested Chromoly Forging and Flow Micro-Slot Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima Japan with a soft copper underlay and uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.

“THE GOOD WAY TO LOOK AT THE NEW MIZUNO PRO 223 IS THAT WE SHRUNK THE JPX921 FORGED TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM TO THE PROFILE OF ONE OF OUR SMALL PLAYER’S CAVITIES – COMPARABLE TO THE MP-62, MP-64 OR MP-18SSC” – DAVID LLEWELLYN, DIRECTOR OF R&D

Hot Metal Blade Design –

The 2ND GEN of Mizuno’s staggering Hot Metal Blade – and the most playable of the Mizuno Pro series. More compact than the original with a revised CORTECH multi-thickness face for even quicker ball speeds. Equally effective as a long / mid-iron alternative for elite players or a complete set for low to mid handicaps. Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima, Japan, with a soft copper underlay for a uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.

“THE ORIGINAL HOT METAL BLADE WAS AN EXTENSION OF OUR HYBRID IRON TECHNOLOGY INTO A FULL BLADED LOOK SET. THE NEW MIZUNO PRO 225 PUSHES THE PROFILE AND SIZE DEEPER IN THE REALMS OF THE TOUR – BUT COMMITS MORE FULLY TO THE PURSUIT OF BALL SPEED” – DAVID LLEWELLYN, DIRECTOR OF R&D

MIZUNO PRO FLI-HI Irons

The Authentic Driving Iron –

A long iron replacement with a priority on ball speed – the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi is designed to be played with a Hybrid shaft. Relieved of the constraints needed to flow through a complete set, the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi has a longer head length, a little extra offset and a wider sole than the Mizuno Pro 225 long irons. With Mizuno’s 1st ever Maraging MAS1C face in an iron – for vastly increased ball speeds.

“OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF SEASON’S WE’VE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF TOUR PLAYER – THOSE WHO PREDOMINANTLY USE THEIR LONG IRON HYBRIDS INTO GREENS AND OTHERS WHO USE THEM TO HIT MORE FAIRWAYS. WITH BOTH THE MIZUNO PRO 225 AND FLI-HI, AS WE’VE GOT OPTIONS FOR BOTH – OR CHANGING DEMANDS THEY MIGHT ENCOUNTER AT DIFFERENT TYPES OF COURSES.” – JEFF COOK, PGA TOUR MANAGER, MIZUNO
