1959 – Karsten Solheim putts with his first prototype putter head with a tuning-fork-like construction makes a ‘ping’ sound when impacting the ball. Karsten runs into the kitchen and announces to his wife, Louise, “I’ve got a name for my putter!” Soon thereafter, he files for a patent on the PING 1-A putter. The patent was granted three years later.

Ping was the first manufacturer to offer high-quality cast clubs using investment casting. This process reduced costs while providing better quality control for high-tech features, and set the foundation for manufactured fitting.

Ping was the first to offer factory club fitting, via a variety of clubheads in different lies and offsets. In 1980, Ping began offering their fitting program based on a checklist of the player’s physical characteristics, common problems, and distances.

PING INC. is an American sports equipment manufacturing company based in Phoenix, Arizona. It focuses on golf equipment, producing golf clubs and golf bags. The company was founded by Karsten Solheim, following a career as an engineer at the General Electric company. In 1959, he started making putters in his garage in Redwood City, California. In 1967, he resigned from his job at General Electric to develop the PING company.

PING G430 – Go Farther. Faster.

G430 Drivers, G430 Irons, G430 Fairways, G430 Hybrids

Delivering more speed and distance through engineering advancements, including its lowest CG ever in a driver, PING today introduced the G440 family around the world.

The new custom-fit, custom-built G440 family consists of three driver models (MAX, LST, SFT), three fairway-wood designs (MAX, SFT, LST) in multiple lofts, six hybrid choices and an iron set (4-9, PW, UW, 52°, 56°). For slower-swing-speed golfers, all the clubs except the LST driver can be custom built with lighter head weights, the ultralight PING Alta Quick shaft and a lighter grip as part of the G440 High Launch (HL) option.

Speed With Can’t-Miss Distance.

G440 Driver Family
The G440 driver family (MAX, LST, SFT) is optimized to deliver more ball speed through multiple advancements, including PING’s lowest CG in a driver to date and a shallower, thinner face, while continuing to ensure game-changing forgiveness. A lighter overall system weight and longer shaft (46″) help generate speed and distance.

G440 Fairways
A re-designed face structure and low CG system in the G440 fairways advance PING’s reputation as a Tour-preferred model of choice. The face in the MAX, SFT and LST is taller for more confidence off the tee while maintaining a CG location that delivers high-launching performance off the ground.

G440 Hybrids
The G440 hybrids deliver different ball-flight characteristics – from the slightly fade-biased 2 hybrid for off-the-tee to the draw-inducing 5, 6 and 7 that help optimize gapping. They share a shallower and thinner face, which improves contact for more ball speed and higher-launching shots that hit and hold the green.

G440 Irons
This distance-driven design best fits golfers in need of game-improvement technology who prefer the influence of a players-style shape. Increased ball speed comes from the thinner face, a PurFlex cavity badge, and the low/back CG location – resulting in higher-launching, longer-carrying shots with stopping power.

s159 Wedges
Our most versatile wedge line significantly advances wedge performance and expands fitting options. Input from top PING pros helped create wedges to fit players of all abilities, delivering higher spin and control to stop the ball close. Tour wedges fit for all, available in 25 loft/grind combinations.

New PLD Milled Putters
Three new Tour-inspired, precision-milled models offer a shallow milled face for a firmer response and consistent ball speeds. The Anser 30, Anser 4D, and Kushin join a wide variety of models in the PLD Milled line, which stands for Putting Lab Design, each model custom-built to fit your game.

PING G440 MAX Drivers

The most forgiving G440 model, MAX has a hotter face to generate speed and distance, and a lighter overall system weight with a longer shaft (46″) for faster clubhead speed, higher launch and longer carries. The Free Hosel and Carbonfly Wrap crown save weight to create our lowest CG ever and increase forgiveness while contributing to a more muted, pleasing sound.

  • Free Hosel, Low CG – Weight removed from a section of the hosel is reallocated to help push mass lower to create our lowest CG ever, aligning it closer to the force line for more distance and fairway-finding forgiveness.

  • Hotter, Thinner Face – A lower face height allows us to make the face thinner and hotter for more ball speed and consistency across the clubface, including the high heel region.

  • Pleasing Sound – A Carbonfly Wrap crown saves weight, which is reallocated to help lower the CG, ensure forgiveness and contribute to a more muted, pleasing sound at impact.

  • Shot Shaping – A 29-gram back weight ensures forgiveness and can be adjusted into the draw, fade or neutral position to influence shot shape and trajectory.

  • Trajectory Tuning 2.0 – The lightweight, 8-position hosel enables adjustments for loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std.) to further dial in ball flight for the best results.

  • G440 High Launch (HL) – To help slower-swing-speed players generate speed, higher launch and distance, MAX HL drivers are engineered with an aluminum back weight, 46″ PING Alta Quick shaft, and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip.

  • PING – Engineered Shafts – Counter-balanced Alta CB Blue is lighter to help increase clubhead speed on a mid-high to high launch. Tour 2.0 Black is low launch and low spin, a good fit for higher swing speeds. Tour 2.0 Chrome delivers a low-mid to mid ball flight with control and precision.
  • Aftermarket Shafts – Project X Denali Red is counter-balanced and delivers a high trajectory with mid-high spin, best for a moderate swing tempo. Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black is a low-launch, low-spin option designed to keep torque low under the force of faster swings.

PING G440 SFT Driver

The G440 Straight Flight model offers slice correction utilizing an adjustable back weight that promotes a draw for longer, more accurate drives. The hotter face, lighter weight and longer shaft (46″) generate faster ball speed for big distance. A Free Hosel and Carbonfly Wrap crown save weight to create our lowest CG ever and increase forgiveness while contributing to a more muted, pleasing sound. Available in a new 9° option for faster swings.

  • Slice Correction – The 23-gram adjustable back weight has Draw (13-yard draw bias), and Draw+ (20-yard) positions to provide significant fade and slice correction and bring shots back into the fairway.

  • Free Hosel, Low CG – Weight removed from a section of the hosel is reallocated to help push mass lower to create our lowest CG ever, aligning it closer to the force line for more distance and fairway-finding forgiveness.

PING High Launch (HL) Driver

You might be swinging a club that’s too heavy, meaning you’re not generating sufficient clubhead speed and ball velocity to hit the ball as far as you’d like with consistency. The answer is the High Launch (HL) build, a full-set custom option for slower-swing-speed golfers. Custom engineered with lighter head weights, shaft and grip, the overall system is lighter so you’ll swing faster and generate more ball speed for higher-launching, longer-carrying shots across the entire set.

  • High Launch (HL) Drivers – The MAX and SFT models utilize lighter back weights, the PING Alta Quick shaft and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip to deliver more ball speed with extreme forgiveness. The shaft length is 46″ to promote maximum distance. In testing, slower-swing-speed players gained on average nine yards with the HL build.
  • High Launch (HL) Fairways – The MAX and SFT models utilize lighter back weights, the PING Alta Quick shaft and a Lamkin UTx Lite grip to deliver more ball speed with extreme forgiveness. The shaft length is 46″ to promote maximum distance. In testing, slower-swing-speed players gained on average nine yards with the HL build.
  • High Launch (HL) Hybrids – The HL hybrids help you swing faster and launch the ball higher and farther to reach more greens and stop the ball close, relying on an aluminum back weight, PING Alta Quick shaft and Lamkin UTx Lite grip. Available 3H-7H.
  • High Launch (HL) Irons – In the irons, being fit for the HL build is one way to give you a little more distance and consistency to hit more greens. Lighter toe and tip weights combine with the lightweight shaft and grip to achieve the lighter overall build and swing weights.

  • Custom-Built For Speed – Comprising the new lightweight PING Alta Quick shaft in two flexes, Lamkin UTx Lite grip, and lighter back weights, the overall build is approximately 15% lighter than a standard build.
