Test Your Golf Rules IQ

What happens if I accidentally hit my ball on the green while taking a practice stroke?

Under the current rules, if you accidentally hit your ball while taking a practice stroke on the green, it does not count as a stroke, but you must replace the ball on its original spot with no penalty.

Is there a penalty if my ball hits another ball on the putting green?

Yes, in stroke play, there is a two-stroke penalty if your ball in motion strikes another ball that is at rest on the putting green. In match play, there is no penalty.

What is the rule on lost balls?

You are allowed three minutes to search for a lost ball. After this time, the ball is considered lost, and you must proceed under the lost ball rule with a one-stroke penalty.
